United is making it harder to earn elite status from 2027

United announced some changes yesterday as to how its MileagePlus program will work from 2027. Unfortunately it’s not good news as they’re making elite status harder to earn, although depending on how you earn United status—and how high of a tier you’re aiming for—these changes might not affect you whatsoever.
I’m not sure how making elite status harder to earn will help members get the most from their miles, but sure United—go with that.
