flydubai flight FZ1073, operated by a Boeing 737 MAX 8, was flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv on September 30th. The jet was approaching Israel and was near the border of Saudi Arabia and Jordan when the first-officer attacked the captain. The weapon used was the aircraft’s cockpit crash axe — a piece of equipment stored in cockpits for use during emergencies. During the attack, the aircraft went into a steep dive, dropping more than 14,000 feet in less than 30 seconds.
