Oceanside plans to build 17 tiny homes as quickly as possible using a $3 million grant secured by state Sen. Catherine Blakespear, the lawmaker announced Tuesday in a press release.
The announcement was made one day before Blakespear held her annual End Homelessness Summit in Carlsbad. The event featured San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan, who said building interim housing such as tiny homes quickly led to the city’s success in lowering its number of unsheltered homeless people.
