The financially struggling Latvian flag carrier, AirBaltic, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US today, hoping to emerge as a leaner, less indebted airline by July 2027.

The airline already released its plan in August (read more here), outlining a goal of reducing its fleet by a third, from 54 to 36, on a path to profitability. AirBaltic originally planned to grow to an airline with a fleet of 100 planes.
