TECOH, Yucatán — The Maya community of Telchaquillo has accused the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) of criminalizing land defenders involved in a tense, ongoing dispute over the Mayapán archaeological zone.
According to a press release detailed by Diario de Yucatán, the federal agency filed a criminal complaint (FED/TUC/MER/0000130/2025) against Gladis Uc Flores, a member of the Telchaquillo Indigenous Struggle Committee, and Álvaro Fuentes, an advisor to the community.
