NWT legislators review bill to protect free speech from reprisals

A bill that aims to protect residential school survivors and others who speak out about their experiences was reviewed in the legislative assembly on April 28.
The proposed legislation, Bill 46, is titled “the prevention of proceedings that hamper expression on matters of public interest act.” It’s what’s known as an anti-strategic lawsuits against public participation bill, or anti-SLAPP.
