Everyone assumes when old guys stop calling, they’ve just gotten tired. Or antisocial. Or they’ve finally admitted they never liked you that much to begin with.
That’s the lazy read. And it’s wrong.
My buddy Frank stopped calling about six months ago. Guy I worked with for fifteen years, helped me wire half of Boston. Now nothing. His wife says he’s fine, just keeping to himself. But I know better. Something’s going on that’s bigger than just not feeling
