Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder (photo: Geoff Whitman) Pearl Jam got a lift both from surprise guest Billy Strings and a second bite at the apple with Paul McCartney drummer Abe Laboriel Jr. to close out the 10th anniversary edition of Eddie Vedder’s Ohana festival last night (Sept. 27) in Dana Point, Ca. Laboriel debuted two nights earlier when Pearl Jam stunned the crowd by playing a 15-song set during what had been billed only as “Eddie Vedder and friends.” String

(photo: Travis Shinn) Forty years into its career, Erasure still has a few synths left to switch on. The British synth-pop duo of Andy Bell and Vince Clarke have announced their 20th album, Radio!! Radio!!, alongside a new single, “Wings of Love,” and an extensive European arena tour for 2027. The album, due March 12, 2027 via Mute, is the duo’s first new studio set in six years. If the euphoric “Wings of Love” is any indication, they’re not exactly spending their anniversary lookin

Protomartyr Invites Us to Check Into Hotel Usona You know you’ve made it when you have Iggy Pop in your corner. In the past year, Pop lent his guest vocals to both Anna von Hausswolff and Joan as Police Woman, a certified stamp of approval from the Godfather of Punk. But when fellow Michigan natives Protomartyr asked Pop to announce their latest record, the legend went above and beyond. Not only did he call the album “Wagnerian,” but he said the band itself was &l

Ka Baird and Chris Ryan Williams Breathe the Pressure As a duo, Ka Baird and Chris Ryan Williams present a study in contrasts. Baird, a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, favors density and percussive force, while Williams, a trumpeter, tends to work in subliminal textures and blurred, dissolving tones. They have a lot in common, too: Both use electronics to manipulate their sounds past the point of recognition, and both make music that has a spooky interiority, like a network of gradu

Singer-songwriter Jim James, leader of My Morning Jacket, in South Pasadena, California. He was about to release a new solo album, "Wowed Out," his first in eight years. (Credit: Steve Appleford) “It’s not easy for me to be a human,” Jim James says. “But it’s easy to make music.”Even at low points, he goes on, the music has kept coming to him. The frontman of My Morning Jacket has spent more than two decades making records, establishing hims

Oasis' Liam and Noel Gallagher (photo: Joshua Halling) Oasis is once again proving that apparently everybody wants to live forever — or at least see the Gallagher brothers play “Wonderwall” again. The band’s eagerly anticipated Oasis Live ’27 tour sold out across three days of onsales this weekend, with all 42 shows snapped up across the U.K., Europe, U.S. and Ireland. The tour was already shaping up to be as enormous as Oasis’ initial 2025 reunion, ands this time a

Eddie Vedder and Stephen Wilson Jr. at Ohana in 2026 (photo: Jim Bennett / WireImage). Nineties nostalgia is having a moment in Nashville, but Stephen Wilson Jr. is taking a slightly different route back to the decade — one that involves flannel, distorted guitars and a healthy dose of grunge. The country singer/songwriter and guitarist has been mining the era for years, from his original “Year to Be Young 1994” to his live covers of Nirvana’s “Something in the Way.” He’s even

Abe Laboriel Jr. performing with Eddie Vedder and Earthlings in September 2023 at the Ohana festival in Dana Point, Ca. (photo: Jeff Kravitz / FilmMagic). Pearl Jam made a surprise appearance during frontman Eddie Vedder’s billed solo set last night (Sept. 25) at his Ohana festival in Dana Point, Ca., during which the band introduced longtime Paul McCartney drummer Abe Laboriel Jr. behind the kit. Vedder played five songs acoustic to begin the proceedings, including a tearful tribut

U2 performing on Sept. 25 at Mount Temple Comprehensive School in Dublin (photo: Rich Fury). U2 apparently decided that announcing a new album wasn’t quite enough of a way to celebrate 50 years as a band. One day after revealing Carnaval de Luz, its first new album in nine years, the Dublin legends spent today (Sept. 25) marking the occasion with two surprise hometown performances — first at the school where its four members formed, then from a balcony overlooking Grafton Street.

Olivia Rodrigo (photo: Geffen Records) iHeartMedia’s annual holiday road show returns in December with a very large stocking stuffed with pop stars. iHeartMedia has announced the 2026 edition of its annual iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour Presented by Capital One, and this year’s traveling holiday spectacle is bringing a decidedly eclectic lineup of pop, rock, R&B and everything in between to nine U.S. cities. Among the artists hitting the Jingle Ball stage: Olivia Rodrigo, ADÉLA, J

Following this year’s deluxe reissue of 12 Golden Country Greats and the 2024 expansion of Chocolate and Cheese, the band is digging even deeper into its ’90s vaults with Boognish Provides, a sprawling new collection of live recordings from the tour in support of t

Michelle Branch. (Credit: Alexa King Stone) Michelle Branch never had the chance to be prom queen. By the time she was 15, she had dropped out of high school to pursue a music career and became a pop-rock queen instead. But she tried to recreate the teenage rite a few times, like when she appeared on the cover of YM Prom in 2003 to model the best dresses. And—fun fact about the cover of her breakout album The Spirit Room—that belt she pairs over her blue jeans spells out &ldq

The Best Events Are Starting Digitally I’m an events person.I got my start in this business not by playing an instrument, but as a promoter, because I loved bringing people together. Beats x Bytes actually started as an event series called SoundCTRL. (Good times!) I became a booking agent and helped orchestrate the early live careers of many of your favorite artists.More from Spin: Oasis Sells Out All 42 Shows On 2027 Tour Eddie Vedder, Stephen Wilson Jr. Team Fo

Turnstile (photo: Trevor Roberts) Saturday Night Live has largely favored pop, hip-hop and Latin music with its recent musical bookings, which is why the presence of Turnstile on the initial season 52 slate is all the more eye-opening. The Baltimore hardcore outfit will serve as the musical guest on Oct. 3 alongside host Dakota Johnson, and will presumably perform material from its acclaimed 2025 album, NEVER ENOUGH.That project was grist for a just-released collection of alternate and

The War on Drugs' Adam Granduciel (photo: Emily Shur). The War on Drugs debuted a new song dubbed “Who’s That” way back in May 2024 and have continued to play it live ever since, and now its maiden studio version has finally arrived today (Sept. 9). The Adam Granduciel-led band’s first fresh recording since 2022 is accompanied by a video directed by Max Flick, during which Granduciel walks around the streets of his adopted Burbank, Ca., home base after dark

Nirvana will receive the Video Vanguard Award at the Sept. 27 MTV Video Music Awards, an honor announced today on a particularly fitting anniversary: Sept. 9, 1992, was the night the late Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl took the VMAs stage for the first time. That appearance at Los Angeles’ Pauley Pavilion remains one of the ceremony’s most i

(photo: Jonathan Weiner) Slipknot is back in attack mode. The masked hard rock band has unleashed “Arsenal,” its first new song in more than three years — and its first since parting ways with longtime turntablist Sid Wilson last month. The track is accompanied by a typically unhinged visual directed by M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan and starring Jackson White. Musically, “Arsenal” packs virtually every weapon in Slipknot’s considerable arsenal: pulverizing dynamics, razor-edged voc
