Watch out for easy-to-forget debts! An embarrassing, but useful reminder. (A Carrie commentary)
I have been very gradually re-entering the miles and points game after a long stretch of years out of the loop. Today, I have an embarrassing story to share that I’d much rather keep to myself. But on this journey to re-enter the miles and points game (and even graduate from “player 2” to more of a player 1), I’d like to share the nuggets and fumbles I come across along the way.
In this post, for example, I’ll highlight an important step I took to check up on my cre

How to decide which premium cards are keepers (Video)
Annual fees are getting more expensive, and it can feel like quite an investment to keep every rewards card. Luckily, Greg’s developed a worksheet which you can access and use to help determine when a card is worth its annual fee, based on how you actually value the different perks.

Surprisingly strong Citi Travel results, the best credit card combinations that cost less than $95 combined, keeping your miles alive, and more [Week in Review]
A long-running joke in this space is that there’s no IT in Hyatt. That’s because Hyatt has long been known for its less-than-stellar IT.
I ran into my latest experience with Hyatt’s lackluster IT this week when I wanted to book a simple one-night stay at an airport Hyatt Place. The property I was trying to book is in Category 2, where an award would cost 8,000 points per night at standard rates. Mastercard launches “Taste by Priceless” Lounges
It seems like every Tom, Dick, airline, and credit card issuer has their own airport lounge these days. Never one to miss out on a chance to get in the game late, Mastercard has now announced the opening of two new proprietary lounges, one in Hong Kong and the other in São Paulo.
An early 2026 contender for Chase’s “The Edit” award for “Best Awkward Name,” Mastercard’s new lounges are called “Taste by Priceless” or “Taste of Priceless,”

US Bank Amazon Business cards are live with targeted welcome offers of up to $750
Early this week, US Bank officially launched its new Amazon Business Cards for new applications.
In and of itself, the card is interesting to Amazon Prime customers, as it earns 5% back at Amazon, AWS, and Whole Foods, and 2% back on your top 3 monthly non-Amazon categories (the non-Prime version is 3%).
The initial launch includes what appears to be a dynamic welcome offer, which varies by account (the application flow prompts you to log in). When my wife and I look at it, it’s surprising

Chase Sapphire and Freedom promo for 10x when using Paze is worth a look
Until yesterday, I’d never heard of Paze. Today, I’m very interested.
That’s because Doctor of Credit posted about a promo that Chase quietly added to most Freedom and Sapphire cards that gives you a bonus 10x when you use that card to check out with Paze. The promo is limited to 15,000 points per month (or $1,500 in purchases) and expires on 12/31/26. That’s a potential for up to 105,000 points on $10.5K in purchases through the end of the year.

Analysis paralysis: Which way to pay for a 2-night hotel stay?
Hotel credits have become rather ubiquitous on travel rewards credit cards. I would say that I’m swimming in hotel credits, but the truth is that it feels more like I’m drowning in hotel credits. Complexifying things is the fact that I’m a serial stacker, always looking for the best deal. That combination of factors recently led to analysis paralysis, where I had a lot of difficulty deciding just how to book a two-night hotel stay where elite status and benefits don’t par

Are you eligible for a new Marriott card? (Brilliant changes reversed)
A couple of months ago, we updated this post to account for new rules limiting eligibility for Amex Bonvoy Brilliant and Bevy card bonuses. Previously, having the Chase Ritz-Carlton card was the primary barrier to entry, but that barrier suddenly applied to all Chase Bonvoy cards.
However, Amex seems to have reversed those changes for the Brilliant, and it’s now relatively open for Chase cardholders, according to the terms. The draconian limits on the Bevy remain. Hopefully, this won’
