Emo Kids Anonymous have released a collaborative “Top 200 Emo Albums” list. Before you dive into the list though, please remember every list like this is bullshit. I worked hard on this and I hope it creates fun discourse and leads to everyone discovering (and rediscovering) cool music, but c’mon. None of this means anything. For starters, there is a 10 point gap between 200 and 101, meaning one extra person voting and picking any album in the back half as their favorite would jum

Today I’m thrilled to bring everyone the new single from NY-based hardcore/punk band, Grey Area, called “Anxious.” With leanings closer to melodic hardcore than traditional hardcore punk rock, Grey Area have a sound that fits right in the same vein as Bad Brains and Descendents, but with a modern sheen that makes them stand apart from the pack. The track comes from the band’s new LP, Silence, that will be released via Creep Records later on this year. Grey Area shared:

Today I’m so happy to share the news that emo band, Lychee Camp, have released their latest music video for their great-sounding new song, “Sunday Scaries.” The band shared: ‘Sunday Scaries’ is about how hard it can be to accept loss—when someone you love so much just isn’t there anymore and you can’t let go. It’s something we’re all unfortunately going to experience at some point, which is pretty gnarly to think about. Because the subject is already so heavy, we didn’t want

Daisy Grenade is bringing a beautifully chaotic mix of heartbreak, rage, rebellion, distortion, and glitter to a new generation of alternative music fans. Made up of New York natives Dani Nigro and Keaton Whittaker, the alt-pop duo combines its members’ musical theater roots with the energy of pop-punk and grunge to create a sound and live show that are unmistakably their own. That combination has helped Daisy Grenade make serious noise. The duo joined the Atlantic Records roster, toured wit

Audrey Hobert has shared her self-directed video for “Phoebe.” Rising pop superstar Audrey Hobert unveils the official music video for “Phoebe” today—watch here. Hobert directed the video, which was shot along the California coast this fall. A fan-favorite track, “Phoebe” has become one of the most anticipated moments of Hobert's live show and was a standout of Hobert's NPR Tiny Desk performance this summer. Hobert played three back-to-back, sold-out nights at New York’

When a new band rocks with this much urgency in their songs, you’re bound to stand at attention and take notice. Los Angeles, CA emo-tinged rock band, Kiss The Scientist, have returned with a blistering new song called “Idyllwild, CA” that sparks early comparisons to established bands like Hot Mulligan, Taking Back Sunday, and The Menzingers. Kiss The Scientist stormed onto the music scene with the equally-great EP, Better In My Head, that released earlier this year, and this s

Name Taken talked with Highwire Daze: Even after the band stopped being active, we all continued making music in different ways. Whenever we came up with something we genuinely liked and felt was worth investing time into, we’d record it.Releasing “Nanking” years later felt right because we still hear from fans who would love more music or another reunion. We know a reunion probably isn’t happening, but at least we can share some of the material that’s been sitting around all these years. Ple

Travis Barker shared on Instagram that he’s recovering from surgery: I had surgery yesterday. My arm, hand and fingers have been numb since a show I played last month. I had a test Monday after my show and turns out I needed a cubit tunnel release to fix the nerve. I wanted to go ahead and finish it so I can keep playing the way I have for a long time. Should be good in a few weeks. Please consider becoming a member so we can keep bringing you stories like this one.◎

There are few albums that directly challenge your listening experience much like what Rx Bandits did on their fifth studio album, called …And the Battle Begun. This “challenge” comes with a certain dedication to the band’s songwriting craft that they first started to explore on their Drive-Thru Records’ debut of Progress, made waves with their fourth studio album of The Resignation, and blew the doors off the hinges with …And the Battle Begun. I’ve exper
