Sharp-eyed viewers of Sunday’s season four premiere of The Gilded Age were taken aback at the sight of two very respectable gentlemen strolling purposefully in the background. Taking place precisely at the 8:33 mark of the episode, the gents in question—a stork-legged older man with a glorious white beard and younger man in bushy mustache—blend right in with the passing 1880’s New Yorkers, despite the indisputable fact that they’re played by David Letterman and Matt Damon.
