DAKAR, Senegal Oct 31– A four-month-old baby who was brought to a Nairobi clinic with a fever and a runny nose was found to have a congenital heart defect after an artificial intelligence (AI) tool flagged abnormalities in the child’s vital signs, prompting further medical examination.
The discovery was made possible through AI Consult, a technology integrated into digital patient records at Penda Health, where clinical officer Vyonne Njeri was attending to the infant.
