The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on October 28 approved an additional 3-percentage-point instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners. The increase takes DA and DR from 60% to 63% of basic pay and basic pension respectively, with effect from July 1, 2026.
