When it comes to superheroes, Superman is the benchmark by which all others are judged. Created in 1938 by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the character was originally a super-strong hero. But as the comics went on and the DC Universe filled out with even more figures, Superman's powers grew to include flight, heat vision, and levels of strength so vast he was seen as overpowered. Even when DC Comics tried to reduce his power, pop culture still saw the hero as the strongest superhero ever.
