The CIF San Diego Section has produced a number of great football coaches.
But no one has done it quite like Ron Hamamoto. He won at a private school (USDHS — now Cathedral Catholic), won in the North County (Rancho Bernardo), won at an inner-city program (Lincoln) and won in the East County (Mount Miguel).
Hamamoto retired as a head coach two years ago with a record of 246-194-4, third at the time behind coaching legends Herb Meyer (339 wins) and John Carroll (248).
