The strength of the Orioles entering spring training was supposed to be their infield.
The team spent $155 million to bring in Pete Alonso to play first base. Jackson Holliday was entering his second full season in the big leagues at second base. Gunnar Henderson was expected to bounce back to his MVP form at shortstop. Jordan Westburg was intent on a healthy season at third base. And bench players Ryan Mountcastle, Coby Mayo and Blaze Alexander all had roles that played to their strengths.
