A 1996 self-portrait by David Bowie, unseen in public for nearly three decades, is going under the hammer at Sotheby's London for the first time. The work, estimated at £35,000–55,000 ($46,000–$72,500), is on public view ahead of Sotheby’s Modern British and Irish Art Day Auction on October 15. Bowie gifted the painting to his St. Ives gallerist, who sold it to a private collector shortly after.
