You can’t live in Northern California for long before hearing of Apple Hill. But don’t look for it on a map. It’s not a single geographic place, but a constellation of about 60 farms, ranches and wineries that are members of the Apple Hill Growers Association. They’re spread out north of Highway 50, in the rolling foothills between Placerville and Camino in El Dorado County. And they are by no means all about apples.
