Mike Ditka, who died Friday, Oct. 9, at the age of 86, spent decades as a fixture in the game of football. The Hall of Fame tight end was a pioneer as a player after going fifth overall in the 1961 NFL Draft to the Chicago Bears. As a rookie, he became the first tight end in NFL history to surpass 1,000 yards receiving. He'd never repeat that feat but made five Pro Bowls over a 12-year career with the Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, and Dallas Cowboys.After retiring following the 1972 NFL season
