On paper, you’d think that Tom Cruise’s darkly comic eco-parable Digger had all the ingredients to become a solid gold hit.
From its iconic star, looking unrecognisable beneath layers of make-up as the titular oil tycoon, through to the directorial credentials of Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (who already has an Oscar on his shelf for Birdman), this one looked like a surefire contender for box office and awards
