Tamil Nadu innovator Vinisha Umashankar has emerged from a school-age inventor into an internationally recognised voice on climate action and youth innovation. Her journey began with an observation in her neighbourhood, where she saw street-side ironing vendors relying on charcoal to heat heavy cast-iron boxes. She developed the idea of a Solar Ironing Cart, designed to use solar panels to power a steam iron while allowing vendors to continue their livelihoods. The National Innovation Foundation
