This, from the greatest liberal thinker of the postwar era, was quite a tribute to John Maynard Keynes (1883-1946); especially when you bear in mind that Berlin, in his extraordinary intellectual life, had also encountered Sigmund Freud, Bertrand Russell, Albert Einstein, Pablo Picasso, TS Eliot and Ludwig Wittgenstein.
Eighty years after his death, Keynes is principally associated
