Cairo urges Iran de-escalation, stresses freedom of navigation in Red Sea, Bab Al-Mandab

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty called for intensified regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions related to the crisis with Iran and prevent the conflict from widening, while stressing the need to preserve freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab and reject the use of maritime chokepoints as instruments of pressure.
Abdelatty made the remarks during separate phone calls with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani
