In 1976, four kids at Dublin's Mount Temple Comprehensive School got together to start a band. The 14-year-old Larry Mullen., Jr. posted that he was looking for musicians on the school's notice board, and he and some of his classmates had their first practice in his kitchen on Sep. 25. The young band called themselves Feedback and then the Hype before changing their name to U2. Within about a decade, they became one of the biggest acts on the planet.
