Around 10 inmates at Central Jail Raipur in Chhattisgarh have crafted nearly 500 eco-friendly Lord Ganesha idols ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi on September 14, 2026. The 1–2-foot idols are made from natural clay and organic colours, with tulsi and other plant seeds embedded inside them. Jail Superintendent Yogesh Singh said the initiative is part of the prison’s ongoing skill-development and production activities aimed at rehabilitation and self-reliance.
