More people die from tuberculosis than from any other infectious disease globally, with an estimated 1.2 million deaths attributed to it in 2025. In Africa, people diagnosed with tuberculosis accounted for around a quarter of the world's cases, resulting in approximately 315,000 deaths in 2024.
