Writing one incredible book is hard enough. Writing three books that belong together is a completely different challenge. That's especially true with science fiction, where a great idea can easily run away from its author. A trilogy has to keep expanding its world and ideas without losing the one thing that made the first book special. And for me, the real test comes with the third book. If I finish it and can justify the existence of all three installments, I'm immediately in love.
