Some people burn out loudly. There is a 2am resignation email, a bad meeting everyone still talks about, a stairwell cry that gets witnessed. Those people usually get help, because their distress is legible.
Then there is the other kind. They keep delivering. They answer messages within the hour. They remember your kid’s name and ask about the dog. And somewhere around year three of holding it all together, the lights go out behind their eyes, and nobody notices for another eighteen months
