The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a new treatment for pancreatic cancer, a disease known for its high mortality rate.
The drug, daraxonrasib, sold under the brand name Rasonque and produced by Revolution Medicines, was found to nearly double the overall survival time of patients in clinical trials.
In a late-stage trial with 500 patients, those who took the daily pill had an average survival time of 13.2 months compared to 6.6 months for chemotherapy recipients.
