This month marks the 76th anniversary of a shameful chapter in history for Hawaii and America — a history that’s no longer remembered broadly, but should be. On Aug. 11, 1950, Congress cited 39 union organizers and union workers in Hawaii for “criminal contempt,” referring them to prosecutors and potential federal imprisonment because they refused to identify themselves or others as Communist or affiliated with Communists, under questioning by federal lawmakers from the notorious House Un-Americ
