TAHMEK, YUCATÁN — The municipality of Tahmek is preparing to welcome up to 20,000 visitors as it hosts the eighth edition of the International Maya Paper Balloon Festival (Festival Internacional del Globo de Papel China) on August 22 and 23.
The free, family-friendly event will run from 4:00 p.m. each day, showcasing massive hand-crafted tissue paper balloons that reach heights of up to 12 meters. These intricate structures, requiring hours of detailed assembly, will be launched into the sky
