Ford had a difficult problem in the late 1960s. Everyone knows how the 390 was being creamed by the competition until the advent of the 428 Cobra Jet in 1968, but there was another issue that’s rarely talked about: Ford didn’t offer a competitive small-block either. That fix arrived in 1969 in the form of 5.8 liters. This engine powers our Pick of the Day, a 1969 Torino GT hardtop listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a dealership in El Cajon, California.
