More than 200 killed in road crashes this year, says ITA

KINGSTON, Jamaica—Deaths resulting from motor vehicle crashes have now gone past the 200-mark, reaching 202 as of Thursday, August 14.

This is according to the Island Traffic Authority (ITA) in its latest crash statistics released on Friday.

The deaths have resulted from 174 fatal crashes.

Despite the number, this represents a 15 per cent decline or 36 fewer deaths when compared to the similar period in 2025, ITA said. Fatal crashes are also down 16 per cent.
