Marines identify West Coast recruit who died after physical fitness test

The Marine Corps has identified Pvt. Aiden Craig as the recruit who died on Aug. 5 after a medical emergency four days earlier during a physical fitness test at Camp Pendleton, California.



Craig, 18, posthumously earned the title of Marine, said Steven Posy, a spokesperson for Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. 



Originally from Texas, Craig enlisted in the Marines on June 1, 2026, according to his service record, which was provided to Task & Purpose.
