Anyone who has been living in or visiting Mexico for an extended period of time knows that at certain times this century, one US dollar bought significantly fewer Mexican pesos than it does today.
I’m talking about 25 years ago, 20 years ago, 15 years ago.
I’m not talking about 10 years ago, when the greenback rose above 20 to the peso, or six years ago, when the USD:MXN exchange rate exceeded 25 at the onset of the COVID pandemic.
At the close of trading on Aug. 5 (i.e. yesterday),
