Publicizing the identities of special operations troops could be criminalized under the same laws that protect intelligence agents, according to a proposal included in the House version of the annual defense bill.
Though aimed at military members in units that perform sensitive missions, the proposal could also cover a wide range of military and civilian roles, and allow the Secretary of Defense to apply that secrecy as they see fit.
