When three-year-old Rinki Baiga was brought to the clinic in Ganiyari, a village 20 km from Bilaspur city in Chhattisgarh, she was very sick. Barely conscious and grunting, she was breathing rapidly. Her eyes were glued shut with discharge, her lips were cracked and dry, and she was severely dehydrated and was running a high fever. She was malnourished and very thin, and had dry brown hair.
