Uganda's only boldly independent media institutions, Daily Monitor and NTV Uganda, were forcibly shut down by military operatives on orders from General Muhoozi Kainerugaba. This action by the UPDF, targeting the Nation Media Group, has sparked outrage, left over a thousand employees jobless, and raised significant concerns about press freedom and democratic principles in Uganda.
