Mehdi Hasan first rose to prominence as the New Statesman’s pugnacious political editor, a job he held from 2009 to 2012, and he hasn’t stopped picking fights since: his 2023 book was titled Win Every Argument. He moved from magazines to television, presenting shows on Al Jazeera and MSNBC, where he became a furious critic of the Israeli war in Gaza.
