The European Union has been in the process of updating its Air Passenger Rights legislation, usually referred to as EC 261/2004, that compensates passengers for long delays and cancellations, ensures Duty to Care, and ensures that airlines take care of passengers.
There has been a push from the airlines and passenger advocates to update this legislation, and at one point, it seemed that many pro-airline rules were being considered, but these are all missing from the negotiated agreement.
