Although the Star Trek franchise is easily Gene Roddenberry's biggest legacy, the space opera's creator did work on other projects. Because Star Trek has become so all-consuming, his other efforts within the sci-fi genre have been eclipsed and largely forgotten about. One of them that came decades after The Original Series felt like the antithesis of Star Trek in general. It ran for five seasons and has since been swept aside as little more than a cult classic.
