My mother was our center
Our meeting place, our headquarters
She advised and guided us
Through life.
She was our rock
Our steadiness, our peace
Our cup of tea after a busy day
Or a hectic week.
Those were the most important
For we could always hire
A seamstress or a housekeeper
To do the other things she did.
She has been gone for awhile now
But probably looking down
And seeing us as seniors
So grateful she raised us.
