Side tables have a bit of an identity problem in furniture design. Most treat them as purely functional afterthoughts, giving you a flat surface at the right height and not much else. The ones that do try to stand out tend to overcorrect, piling on decorative legs, unusual proportions, or materials that compete with everything else in the room.
