Sometimes a death brings family closer together.
Other times it rips them apart.
Karla Kerr’s seen both extremes and those in between.
“Most people have heard of a birth doula, a death doula is similar in the sense that we offer non-medical, practical support,” said Kerr, now a death doula, with a background in funeral service. “Whereas a birth doula is helping a woman labouring or a baby labouring into the world, a death doula is helping someone labour out of the world
