Miguel Ángel Martínez, president of Poder Migrante Mexicano (Mexican Migrant Power), warns that remittances fell between 5 and 6 percent in the first quarter of the year compared to the same period last year.
“The Bank of Mexico is estimating a 5 to 6 percent reduction in the flow of money entering Mexico, not only in Yucatán but nationwide,” he emphasizes.
