In a ceremony marking the start of Earth Week at the Visitor Centre on Monday at noon, Ndilo Chief Fred Sangris gave a sombre talk, saying that the Earth is calling out in distress but politicians are asleep and cannot hear its cries for help.
Sangris, one of three speakers at the gathering, said that where once the leaves on trees along the road to Dettah used to be moist and healthy, now they are dead — prime fodder for forest fires.
