A 69-year-old American tourist has died after a drowning incident at Main Beach in St Lucia on Friday afternoon, despite a rapid rescue effort involving bystanders and emergency services.
According to the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI), St Lucia station commander Melinda Snyman said the incident occurred on 10 April at approximately 15:00 after multiple eyewitness reports alerted rescuers to a man in distress in the surf zone.
